Advertising photography

Plan advertising photographs around a clear message, controlled light and the space needed for a final layout.

An advertising photograph has a practical communication task. Define the subject, audience and intended placement before choosing the lighting or composition. A picture that works as a standalone image may need a different crop when text or branding is added.

Test the picture in its layout

Leave deliberate space for type and check the frame at the sizes in which it will appear. Compare a clean product view with an image showing use or context. The right choice depends on what the viewer needs to understand first.

Create a short production checklist covering background, reflections, colour consistency and the required file formats. Agree on usage permissions for images, people and locations before publishing a campaign.
