Photography learning

Amateur Photographer

Amateur Photographer: photography notes and practical guidance on photography learning.

Photography develops through deliberate practice as well as inspiration. Choose a manageable question for each session so that reviewing the pictures teaches you something specific.

Build a repeatable practice loop

Set one constraint, such as a single focal length or one subject in changing light. Make a short selection afterwards and write down one choice that worked and one you would change. Plan the next session around that observation.

Keep the exercise small enough to repeat. Familiar subjects often make progress easier to see because changes in the photographs come from your decisions rather than from a different location or equipment.
