A digital photograph passes through capture, editing, export and display. Keeping these stages distinct makes it easier to diagnose why a file looks different on another screen or in a print.
Export for the actual destination
Choose dimensions and compression for the final use rather than repeatedly saving a small copy. Keep an original or master file apart from delivery versions. Check colour handling and view the exported image in the application or layout where it will be used.
Use descriptive filenames and retain the information needed for credits and permissions. A clean delivery folder reduces confusion when several crops or sizes of the same photograph are required.
