Reflections and transparent surfaces can create several readings within one frame. When assessing photographs credited to Ricardo La Piettra, watch for forms that appear to overlap without occupying the same space. Distinguish what you can see clearly from what remains ambiguous. A visual layer may be a reflection, a shadow or another surface, but the image may not settle that question.
Trace one shape through the frame and note where it disappears or changes. Then view the entire composition again to see how the interruption affects its structure. This exercise is useful even when no reflection is present, because it reveals relationships between layers.
