Useful portfolio notes explain a response instead of simply recording approval. When reviewing photography credited to Martin Pustelnik, choose a few images and write three brief observations for each: where your eye begins, what holds it and what remains unresolved. Link each observation to a visible feature such as position, contrast, gesture or the relation between two forms.
Read your notes after a pause and remove any statement you cannot connect to the image. Keep questions when they are productive; not every ambiguity needs an answer. Preserve the displayed titles and credits so that you can find the same photographs again. This approach creates a focused personal study record and a clearer basis for comparing different selections fairly.
