RF · Tonal relationships

A focused photography viewing exercise on framing, sequence and visual relationships.

A tonal study asks how light and dark areas describe the subject. Begin with the broadest shapes, then look for detail in the areas that matter. High contrast is a choice with a visible effect, not an automatic improvement.

A practical viewing exercise

Compare a restrained edit with a more pronounced tonal version. Look at edges, skin where present and the brightest highlights. Choose the treatment that keeps the important relationships legible.
