A useful way to approach a photographic view is to ask where the camera stood and what the framing excludes. The same subject can feel open, enclosed or fragmented through small shifts in position.
Compare viewpoints deliberately
Choose a scene and make three frames from nearby positions without changing the subject. Notice how overlaps, backgrounds and lines change. This simple study reveals choices that can be easy to miss when viewing one finished picture.
For a portfolio viewing session, write down the strongest spatial relationship in each image. A pattern of such decisions can connect otherwise different subjects.
