Instant photography makes the print part of the experience. The border, surface, colour response and development process influence how a picture is made and viewed. Treat each film type as a distinct material rather than assuming that all instant films behave alike.
Start with the film instructions
Check compatibility with the camera, the recommended working temperature and the maker’s handling instructions. Keep notes on light and exposure compensation so that changes between photographs have an explanation.
For a creative series, keep one subject constant while varying distance or framing. Compare the physical prints together after development. Handle chemistry and discarded film according to the manufacturer’s instructions, and keep experimental manipulation separate from everyday use.
